Capotreno ucciso a Bologna, il presunto killer era stato denunciato a Pavia

Marin Jelenic, the 36-year-old Croatian man who, according to investigators, killed train conductor Alessandro Ambrosio at the Bologna station, was also arrested and charged in Pavia, for reasons yet to be clarified. The man was arrested Tuesday evening in Desenzano del Garda. The crime dates back to January 5th: Ambrosio was found in a pool of blood in a parking lot near the Bologna station. Surveillance cameras captured Jelenic following the train conductor to the alley leading to the parking lot and then walking away from the scene of the murder to board a train to Milan. The alleged killer has a long history of thefts and violent behavior. As mentioned, he was also stopped in Pavia for a routine check on December 30th: law enforcement seized a 24-centimeter knife and charged him at large. Several users on the Facebook group L24 had also reported his presence in the city, both near the station and in Piazzale Crosione. The 36-year-old—according to the reconstruction—frequently traveled on trains and slept in stations, wherever he happened to be. On January 5th, Jelenic followed Ambrosio for no apparent reason and allegedly stabbed him in the stomach: he is charged with aggravated voluntary homicide. He allegedly told the police who stopped him in Desenzano del Garda that he didn't know why he was wanted. Unions have called a regional rail transport strike in Emilia Romagna from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7th, to demand greater safety for workers.
