Kansas City Southern: Locals, MOWs and the Big Wigs.

Filmed 08/25 & 27/17 I got off work a little after 2pm on Friday, and as I was leaving the Slater Local went through Oak Grove heading west. Meaning, I had 10 or so miles to get ahead of it to film it here in Blue Springs. Of course when I got trackside, the train had stopped before it got to the crossing I was at and was doing a bit of switching. It was around the bend and just out of sight, but I could hear the power. Soon enough it moved into view and once again stopped, then backed up out of sight and earshot. Not long after the crossing gates go off again and coming out of the west was a series of MOW equipment that paraded by me going east. So somewhere the train or the MOW crews took a siding so the local could get through. Then they proceeded to shuffle some cars on the siding here in Blue Springs between 10th and Main. I moved over to the Main Street crossing to film what I could of the job. Took almost 2 hours to get everything recorded, but I compressed it down to what you see in this video. Plus, on Sunday, the Executives were out on the road in their beautiful business train lead their FP9 set. That would have been a video all on its own, however they were running fast and came through much sooner than expected. Almost missed it, and Dad did miss it, otherwise I'd have had two run-bys of it. But it is what it is. Sunday I'll have Day 3 from the Central Iowa Railroad Club which I filmed Friday the 18th.
