SiBRASS 2023 CONCERT CYCLE CONCERT 4 Brass Quintet Sunday, 15 October 2023, at 7.00 p.m. Slovenian Philharmonic, Marjan Kozina Hall The brass quintet SiBRASS has been one of the most prominent and active brass ensembles of the last decade in Slovenia. It was founded in the autumn of 2011 upon the initiative of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. SiBRASS’s repertoire comprises works from the established canon of original compositions – adaptations as well as new compositions of Slovene composers written for the ensemble. Hitherto, SiBRASS has been invited to be part of the programme of the following Slovene cultural institutions: Narodni Dom Maribor, Ljubljana Festival, Zavod Celeia, Sokolski dom Škofja Loka, Festival Velenje, and Kulturni dom Franca Bernika Domžale. Its performances have been funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. The ensemble has hitherto performed in Germany, Austria, Italy, and Croatia. On this occasion, SiBRASS will perform in the following composition: Franc Kosem and Jure Gradišnik (trumpet), Mihajlo Bulajić (French horn), Žan Tkalec (trombone), and Jernej Oberžan (tuba). The brass quintet SiBRASS will be performing a diverse programme comprising the following: classical successes such as Quintet by Michael Kamen, Vuelta del fuego by Kevin McKee, Spiritual Waltz by Enrique Crespo, and Dance Suite by Leonard Bernstein; Brass Quintet No. 2 in E-flat Major, Op. 6, by Victor Ewald, which is one of the fundamental works of the repertoire for such ensembles; three compositions by Slovene composers – Kolovrat (Eng.: “The Spinning Wheel”) by Uroš Krek, The Slovene Ragtime by Jože Privšek, and a new composition by Anže Rozman that SiBRASS commissioned, a multifaceted composer who lives and works in Hollywood. *** Izvajalci: Trobilni kvintet SiBRASS Franc Kosem, trobenta Jure Gradišnik, trobenta Jože Rošer, rog Žan Tkalec, pozavna Jernej Oberžan, tuba Program: 0:10 Uroš Krek: Kolovrat 6:28 Viktor Evald: Trobilni kvintet št. 2 v Es-duru, Op. 6 I.
