Part 2. The ascent to the winter bivouac has been going on for several hours. The cold, the snow, and the narrow passages are taking their toll on our comrades, but the most difficult section is still ahead: the Schrecksattel (Ray Saddle). At 1,620 meters, the Schrecksattel is the passage through the rock face to the highest point. Here, the skis are removed, and with the help of a static rope, they ascend the last few meters of the steep section. Will all the soldiers make it? For many, it's their first encounter with their own limits.
