For the first time in my life, I watched the film adaptation of a book (Steve, with Cillian Murphy's towering performance) and then read the book, witnessing with amazement how these two works transformed into a single work of art. In this video, I talk about Shy's (Steve) nightmarish inner world, the heavy pain a mother feels watching her child hit rock bottom, and how Max Porter's lyrical narrative touches the deepest corners of our souls.
