Rentenreform: Merz' großes Versprechen und was die Zahlen wirklich sagen | NIUS Live
Chancellor Friedrich Merz promises the best of both worlds: rising pensions, falling contributions. Sounds too good to be true? It is. Because his own pension commission has calculated the exact opposite in its report: By 2036, pension contributions could rise from the current 18.6 percent to over 22 percent – four percentage points higher than now. For an average earner with a gross income of €4,200, that means over €1,000 less per year. Net. And that's before the two additional percentage points for the new capital-based pension are even added. On NIUS Live, we analyze what's really behind the Chancellor's promises. Economist Professor Bernd Raffelhüschen calculates live why contributions will certainly rise and why the commission's measures are simply too late and too weak to truly shoulder the demographic burden. Julius Böhm demonstrates on the Magic Wall how Merz already shifted his rhetoric just hours after the press conference. Then there's the big controversy surrounding the capital-based pension: The right idea in principle – but in state hands? Who decides how the 30 billion euros per year are invested? And why does the whole thing sound suspiciously like the mandatory company pension scheme, which the CDU/CSU had vehemently rejected just a short time before? Also: Markus Söder reports from Munich with a clear veto against including those in mini-jobs. Employers are sounding the alarm about an additional burden of up to 40 billion euros. On NIUS Live, NIUS Editor-in-Chief Julian Reichelt, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Pauline Voss, NIUS reporter Julius Böhm, journalist Wolfgang Herles, and economist Bernd Raffelhüschen discussed the topic with moderator Alexander Purrucker. ⚠️👉Watch it here now, like, share, and subscribe! 🔴 NIUS LIVE, Germany's biggest conservative morning show, every Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. Now on nius.de, DAB+, and YouTube.
