Bitter Surrender
'Bitter Surrender' is a powerful reminder of the charged and complex issues of consent and revocation. This beautiful, relevant video was sent to the Forced Adoptions History Project (FAHP) by members of the Association of Relinquishing Mothers (SA). Five women who gave children up for adoption, discuss their experiences and feelings. They relate their ignorance of the finality of signing the consent of adoption and the deprivation of any parental rights or knowledge of their child. The work of the society is highlighted by the retelling of the mothers' experiences. Produced by Ann Sharley and Francesca da Rimini. Directed by Louise Hubbard and edited by Catherine Murphy. Plunge Productions: c1989. Film: 28 min, 44 sec. Distributed by the Australian Film Institute. This film can be borrowed through Libraries Australia. Dewey Number 362.734.
