U.S. won’t receive Gordie Howe bridge tolls until $6.4B is repaid
Prime Minister Mark Carney says U.S. officials won’t see the cash benefits of a new border crossing until all debts and bills are paid. In London, Ont. today, Carney took questions surrounding the deal made with the state of Michigan over the new Gordie Howe International Bridge, connecting Windsor to the Detroit area. The $6.4 billion structure is set to open on July 27, weeks after a ribbon-cutting ceremony was postponed due to U.S. President Donald Trump’s demands to renegotiate the cross-border deal.
