Alto flujo en casa: una terapia respiratoria para reducir crisis y hospitalizaciones

At this presentation during the ACISD Regional Meeting in Bogotá 2025, Claudia Aponte, Senior Territory Manager, presented the use of high-flow humidified oxygen therapy in home care, especially for patients with chronic respiratory conditions. The presentation explained how this technology can support the management of patients with COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, neuromuscular diseases, palliative care, rehabilitation processes, and early discharge from hospitals or long-term care units. One of the central points of the presentation was understanding high-flow oxygen therapy as a form of non-invasive respiratory support that delivers conditioned, humidified, and heated gases. This can help hydrate the airways, improve secretion management, reduce shortness of breath, decrease the work of breathing, and promote patient stability at home.
