EDELRID OHMEGA Review: Micro Assisted-Braking Device Explained

In this video, I take an in-depth look at the EDELRID OHMEGA, explain how it works, show how to use it, and compare it with the original EDELRID OHM. The OHMEGA is much more than an updated version of the OHM. The original OHM creates additional friction by pinching the rope through a V-shaped channel, while the OHMEGA uses a camming mechanism that works more like an assisted-braking belay device. It is also adjustable, allowing the resistance to be changed based on the weight difference between the climber and belayer. There currently aren’t many OHMEGAs available, and there are even fewer detailed reviews, so I wanted to show the device up close and explain what makes it different.
