In 1911 the Germans once more challenged the French at Morocco, kicking off events that would lead to the Italo-Turkish War, the Balkan Wars, and series of more minor crisis such as the Liman von Sanders affair. Underlying everything was an increasingly intense arms race, used to buttress the development of aggressive and offensive war plans by all of the Great Powers. This video aims to serve as a second part to the 'How World War One Began' Documentary. The meat of the video is an analysis of the War Plans and Armament Build ups each of the Great Powers went through, and the economics involved. Though this is sandwiched between more standard diplomatic history. The story takes us up to 28 June and the start of the July Crisis, which Part 3 will discuss.
