Saraswathi's workshop in Freiburg, Germany

In april 2015 Saraswathi Rangaswamy came for a week-long workshop to the Ashtanga Yoga Studio in Freiburg, Germany. Saraswathi was born in 1941. She is the daughter of yoga master K. Pattabhi Jois, founder of the KPJAYI Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India. At 10, she began her formal study of ashtanga yoga under the guidance of her father, and eventually became the first woman admitted to the Sanskrit College in Mysore, where she studied Sanskrit works and yoga. She has been teaching yoga for over 40 years and assisted her father, as well as her son Sharath, who took over the direction of the KPJAYI Ashtanga Yoga Instituts in Mysore after his grandfather passed by in 2009.
