Rettendon; What lies beyond Workhouse Lane?
Come and join me, as I explore the Living Memorial ground behind the spot of the infamous murders. For reference, I referred to an aircraft called a 'Wimpy'. This was a Bomber, designed by Barnes Wallis (responsible for the bouncing bomb used by the 'dambusters'), called The Wellington (Wimpy being the nickname). Built by Vickers-Armstrongs, it began service in 1938 and retired in 1953. It holds the distinction of having been the only British bomber that was produced for the duration of the war, and of having been produced in a greater quantity than any other British-built bomber.
