Single Malt: Whisk(e)y made by one distillery using malted barley. Single Grain: Whisk(e)y made by one distillery using one or a selection of grains (usually corn, wheat, rye, etc.). Also used to describe whiskies made in column stills. Blended Malt: Whisk(e)y made by blending malts from more than one distillery. Blended Grain: Whisk(e)y made by blending grains from more than one distillery. Blended Scotch or Blend (any other country): Whisky made by blending malt and grain (whiskies) from one or more distilleries. Pot Still: Predominantly made in Ireland. A style of whiskey made in a pot still using a mash consisting of at least 30% malted barley, at least 30% un-malted barley and, any other grain. Chill Filtered: A process performed by some producers which sees the whisk(e)y chilled to around 0°to10°, before being screen filtered to remove oily residue left over from the maturation. N.A.S.
