This remote village in Myanmar is home to the Karen people, who have preserved their traditional customs and way of life with strict adherence. Everything here is governed by a rigid set of rules under the leadership of a highly respected tribal chief. What sets this community apart is its unbreakable rule… “Once you choose to enter and become a part of this community, you will never walk away as the same person again. They firmly believe that anyone who joins must fully embrace their culture and beliefs for life—there is no turning back or changing paths. And if you’re unsure whether you can truly live this way, they believe it’s better not to enter at all. Because for them… once you cross the line, there is no going back.” No matter where you come from, if you accept their rules, you can become one of them. Stepping into this village feels like entering a hidden world, completely disconnected from modern civilization. There is no technology, no internet, no electricity, and none of the conveniences we are used to. Life here is simple, deeply connected to nature, and guided by unwavering faith in their traditions. On this journey, I will take you inside this community through the eyes of an outsider to understand why they uphold such strict rules and what makes them so committed to their way of life.
