The Elite Afrikaner Who Betrayed Apartheid | BRAM FISCHER | DOCUMENTARY

This is a documentary about Bram Fischer, an Afrikaner man who was born into a very wealth and influential family during the era of Apartheid South Africa. And although he came from a background that many would have thought that his path would be that of going up the ranks to assume a position that would solidify and continue the system of Apartheid, Bram Fischer chose a different path. He became a lawyer, a bright one at that, and instead of maintaining the system of Apartheid oppression, he chose to defend the people who's apartheid laws oppressed, which were black people. One of the most defining moments of his life was the Rivonia trial, in which he defended Nelson Mandela and other comrades who were facing the death sentence as a result of their crimes under Apartheid South Africa. But Fischer, defended them and got the Judge, to give them prison time instead. The whole world was watching. And shortly after, Bram Fischer became an enemy to the state, but that did not deter him from his course as he later went underground and joined the military arm of the African National Congress, Umkhonto we 'Sizwe. But that did not take long as he was arrested, striped of his privileges and status and put in prison where he suffered ill treatment at the hands of the Apartheid prison system. He later died.
