Electrophysiologic and Anatomic Changes in Patients With oHCM on Mavacamten

Said Alsidawi, MD, FACC, a Cardiologist and Director of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Clinic at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ, shares insights from his article appearing in the October 2025 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings where he looked at the effects mavacamten, a 2022 FDA approved medication, had following 1 year of use for patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He found improvements in left ventricular outflow tract gradient, pulmonary pressure, maximal wall thickness, and mitral regurgitation. Interestingly, Dr. Alsidawi found these results were confirmed dually when using an AI-ECG algorithm. He notes further studies comparing this medication to other treatment modalities are needed, as well as studies to look at its effect on patient longevity. Available at: https://mayocl.in/4mPxXB7
