Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President, and Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of State of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), agreed on Tuesday to perpetuate the great traditional friendship between the two countries from generation to generation. Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, paid their respects at the China-DPRK Friendship Tower, accompanied by Kim and his wife, Ri Sol Ju. Xi and Kim also agreed that the time when China and the DPRK fought side by side in the 1950s constitutes an eternal historical memory shared by both sides. The two leaders pledged to jointly maintain memorial sites dedicated to the martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteers, implement specific programs for educating young people about revolutionary traditions, and perpetuate the great spirit of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
