Pull wire R/C connection
I go over some techniques for attaching a thin pull wire between servos and R/C control surfaces. I show a clean strong method that requires no adhesives or solder and is detachable for repairs. In one version I replaced the wire link with a screw thru the loop but that created hysteresis so I recommend the wire links shown. Here's how to get the wire length right. 1) Twist one end first and attach to a control surface. 2) Run the wire past the servo arm and gently pull it taught. 3) Mark a position 5mm short of the center of the servo arm hole. 4) Use that mark as the contact point during the second twist. Of course you might have to adjust the 5mm if you are using larger or smaller links. My setup was for a 1.5m DLG with .02" diameter wire links and .009" pull wire. 11/26/17 update - I found just 3 turns (using the standard 60 deg angle) also supported the 9 lb test weight - though I still recommend 5. I also tried 2 turns at a tighter 90 deg angle and it too supported 9 lbs!
