Overlanding & Trout Fishing in ZEC Bras‑Coupé | Spring Adventure 2026

On May 1st, 2026, I head out on my first adventure of the season—driving three hours north from home into the beautiful backcountry of ZEC Bras‑Coupé in Quebec. This trip is a mix of overlanding, trail exploration, and early-season trout fishing, with a 41 km stretch down La Vérendrye forestry road leading me deep into the wilderness toward Lake Chabot. Early spring conditions can be unpredictable—cool temperatures, muddy roads, and lakes just coming back to life. After airing down and navigating the trails, I reach the lake and put in a few hours of fishing. As expected for this time of year, the action was mostly chubs, with very little trout—but as always, time spent outdoors is never wasted. I also take a moment to talk about the ZEC system, how it helps maintain sustainable fish populations, and share some personal memories from Lake BrodKorpt, where my father once had a fishing camp. After exploring more roads and trails, I air back up and head home—wrapping up a simple but rewarding day in the wild. 📍 Location: ZEC Bras‑Coupé, Quebec, Canada Near Mont-Laurier & Baskatong Reservoir 🛠️ Gear Used: Vehicle: 2022 GMC Canyon AT4 Tire Inflator: Etenwolf Vortex S7 Kayak: Perception Showdown 11.5 Music: Back in the Saddle - Dan Lebo Lebowitz, Tone Seeker Mississippi Mover - Everet Almond Reuben's Train - Nat Keefe with The Bow Ties Rural Stride - Josh Kirsch_Media Right Productions
