Xuefei Yang - Three Variations on Plum Blossom - Chinese Trad
The first known score for Plum Blossom in Three Variations was discovered in a 1425 guqin book. The guqin is a Chinese string instrument with a history dating back some 3,000 years. The piece uses the plum blossom as a metaphor to praise people with moral integrity. Here's Xuefei's transcription of the piece for solo guitar. Xuefei has also recorded this piece on her Sketches of China album (Decca) available on CD, and digitally on all the usual platforms.
