Title: The Calling and Promise Entrusted to the Remnant Text: Zephaniah 2:4-15 Sermon: Pastor Isaac Kim [ Zephaniah 2:4-15 ] 4 Gaza will be forsaken, Ashkelon will become a ruin, Ashdod will be driven out in broad daylight, and Ekron will be uprooted. 5 Woe to the people of the seashore, the people of Gereth! O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, the word of the LORD is against you; I will destroy you and leave you without inhabitants. 6 The seashore will become pasture, and there will be shepherds' huts and sheepfolds. 7 The territory will return to the remnant of the house of Judah; there they will feed their flocks, and in the evening they will lie down in the houses of Ashkelon, for the LORD their God will look after them and restore them from captivity. 8 I have heard the slander of Moab and the mockery of the Ammonites; they slandered my people and were arrogant concerning their boundaries. 9 Therefore, the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel I say, as I live, that Moab will be like Sodom, and the Ammonites like Gomorrah; they will grow briars and become pits of salt, and will be desolate forever. The remnant of my people will plunder them, and the remnant of my people will take them as their inheritance. 10 They will suffer this because they have blasphemed the people of the LORD of hosts and have become arrogant. 11 The LORD will make them afraid and will weaken all the gods of the earth; all the people of the Gentile coast will worship the LORD in their own places. 12 You Cushites, you too will be slain by my sword. 13 The LORD will stretch out his hand toward the north to destroy Assyria and make Nineveh desolate, and make it parched like a desert. 14 All kinds of beasts will lie down in herds in it; the ox and the hedgehog will nest on the tops of its pillars, and they will cry out from the windows; the thresholds will be silent, for the cedar has been stripped bare. 15 For it is a joyful city, without worry. Dwelling there, I said in my heart, "There is only I, and there is no one else besides me." How has it become so desolate that it has become a place for wild beasts to lie down?
