The Oodnadatta Track: Marree to William Creek & Lake Eyre | S7 EP24 We take on Australia’s most iconic outback route—the legendary Oodnadatta Track—riding two-up and fully loaded on our BMW R1300 GSA. Leaving Marree behind, we begin the first section of this historic Australian track, travelling through the vast and remote landscapes of South Australia towards William Creek. It’s a day of endless gravel roads, red dirt, huge skies and the isolation that makes motorcycle travel through the Australian Outback so unforgettable. Along the way, we catch a glimpse of Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre with water in it—an incredibly rare sight in one of the driest parts of Australia. Seeing this enormous salt lake transformed by water is something we never expected to experience during our journey. We finish the day in tiny William Creek, one of Australia’s most remote settlements, where we stay at its famous outback roadhouse and hotel. With a population of only a handful of people, a legendary pub and the Oodnadatta Track running straight through it, this is a true Australian outback experience.
