Life After Open Heart Surgery – 2 Years Later

It’s been two years since my open-heart surgery, and in this video, I’m sharing an honest health update. In February 2024, I underwent a 9-hour surgery to replace my bicuspid aortic valve, repair a severely dilated ascending aorta, and receive double bypass surgery for a critical LAD artery blockage (the so-called “widowmaker”). Medically, it was serious — even though I had almost no symptoms at the time. Today, I’m happy to say: I’m fully recovered and living a normal, active life. In this update, I talk about: Why was the surgery urgent despite feeling “fine” The physical and emotional challenges of recovery Key milestones (from walking again to running a half-marathon 7 months later) The mental health side of healing My latest cardiac MRI results Activity limits and what life looks like now Recovery from heart surgery isn’t just physical — it’s emotional and mental too. It took me about 1.5 years to truly feel like myself again and stop constantly worrying about every sensation in my chest. Time really does help. If you’re preparing for heart surgery, recovering, or supporting someone who is, I hope this update gives you reassurance and perspective. When the updates get shorter, it usually means everything is going well — and that’s a blessing. Wishing you strength, patience, and good health. ❤️
