How to Forge a Hunting Knife from an Old File | Frontier Style Knife Making
Hello! Today I'm showing you how to forge a frontier style bushcraft/hunting knife from an old file, with a deer antler handle. I only ran into one issue while making this, and that was decarburization. Repeated heating and forging caused the outside to lose carbon content, which meant it wouldn't harden. I simply removed a couple mm from the edge after quenching and found that the edge had successfully hardened. This isn't a huge issue, but it can be prevented by running a reducing flame in your forge. Social media: instagram.com/brady_koopal/ [email protected]
