JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX verkauft sein Publikum für dumm – Kritik & Analyse

With "Joker: Folie à Deux," Todd Phillips presents his audience with a kind of disclaimer for the first "Joker" film, warning them of its risks and side effects. Joker, or rather Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), is now incarcerated in Arkham Asylum, where he experiences violence and bullying from guards and fellow inmates. He faces a trial to determine his sanity. Suddenly, he encounters Lee (Lady Gaga), who has had herself committed under false pretenses to be near her supposed idol, the Joker. A love story blossoms between them, resulting primarily in a great deal of singing, as Phillips has chosen to create a musical film for the sequel, intended to critique the cynicism of the entertainment industry and its audience. At the same time, this second installment is a revision of the first. More on this from Wolfgang M. Schmitt in his film analysis!
