Dhangar Reservation Proposal Rejected?, Delegation to Meet Amit Shah

The long-pending demand for reservation for the Dhangar community has hit a hurdle after the Registrar General of India reportedly flagged deficiencies in the proposal submitted for reservation status. Speaking to the media, Babu Kavlekar, president of Gomantak Dhangar Samajonnati Mandal , said the Ministry of Tribal Affairs informed the Government of Goa that the reservation file had been rejected due to certain shortcomings in the documentation. Kavlekar said the community remains determined to pursue its demand and is seeking intervention at the highest levels of government. He stated that a delegation has already met Pramod Sawant to discuss the issue. The delegation is also expected to meet the Union Tribal Affairs Minister and Amit Shah to push for a resolution and seek clarity on the steps needed to address the deficiencies pointed out by the Centre. The Dhangar community has long been demanding inclusion under reservation benefits, making the issue a significant socio-political matter in Goa.
