Coronation of King Nchaupe Makapan III
COGTA Deputy Minister Zolile Burns-Ncamashe says the institution of traditional leadership will always remain an important organ of the South African government. He was speaking at the coronation of King Nchaupe Makapan III of the Bakgatla ba Mosetlha at Makapanstad in the North West. The young royal was appointed to the throne in May 2015, when he took over from his late uncle, Kgosi Motshegwa. Some disgruntled residents claim proper procedures were not observed in his appointment. But the newly installed King says he will not be deterred by those who don't recognise his throne.
