Why Did Ancient Humans Lose Their Body Hair?

You are the only large mammal on Earth that can run for hours in the midday sun. That is not an accident — and it is the reason you are (almost) naked. Humans didn't lose their fur. We still have around five million hair follicles, roughly the same count as a chimpanzee. What changed is what grows out of them — and what evolution built underneath: two to four million sweat glands, a full-body cooling system no other primate comes close to.
