Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty50 declined while traders parsed the outcome of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting. The MPC has unanimously decided to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 5.25 per cent and hold neutral stance, citing rising global uncertainties. As of 2:30 PM, the Nifty50 fell 76.75 points or 0.33 per cent to 23,339.80, while the Sensex was down 184.16 points or 0.25 per cent at 74,178.82. The government exempted capital gain taxes for foreign investments in the government securities markets, Governor Sanjay Malhotra said in the policy statement.
