Geely E2 bald auch in Deutschland! Technische Daten, Walkarround, erster Eindruck | Electric Drive

With its planned market launch in September 2026, Geely aims to further intensify the pressure on the European market for affordable electric cars. The compact electric vehicle, currently known as the Geely E2, could become a real price-performance champion, as industry sources are suggesting a price of around €25,000 for a fully equipped version. However, it's not just the price that matters, but the overall package, and this is precisely where the E2 delivers a remarkably comprehensive technical foundation. How does the Geely E2 position itself in the segment? At 4,135 millimeters long, 1,805 millimeters wide, and 1,580 millimeters high, the E2 clearly falls within the classic small car segment, but its proportions give it a significantly more mature appearance. The wheelbase of 2,650 millimeters is longer than average for this class and already indicates efficient use of interior space. This impression is reinforced by a ground clearance of 162 millimeters, which lends the vehicle a slightly raised, almost crossover-like character. How does the Geely E2 position itself in the segment? In everyday driving, the extremely small turning circle will be particularly noticeable. With a radius of 4.95 meters, the E2 remains under ten meters, making it exceptionally maneuverable, especially in tight city centers and parking garages. What platform and chassis solution does the Geely E2 use? Technically, the compact electric car is based on Geely's GEA EV platform, which was specifically developed for electric powertrains. Unlike many affordable electric cars, the E2 doesn't use front-wheel drive, but rather rear-wheel drive. This layout offers advantages in terms of traction and maneuverability, particularly in urban traffic. For the chassis, Geely combines a MacPherson strut front axle with an independent multi-link rear axle. The latter is anything but standard in this vehicle class and indicates that Geely has consciously invested in ride comfort and stability. Combined with the relatively long wheelbase, this could result in exceptionally confident handling for its class. What powertrains and performance figures are planned? On the powertrain side, there are two power levels to choose from. The entry-level version delivers 82 hp, while the more powerful variant boasts 116 hp (85 kW) and a maximum torque of 150 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes approximately 11.5 seconds, and the top speed ranges between 130 and 135 km/h, depending on the variant. The everyday driving perspective is particularly interesting. The top-of-the-line version accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, which is significantly more relevant in urban environments than the standard sprint to 100 km/h. What about the battery, range, and charging? Geely is currently planning two battery options with capacities of 35 kWh and 47 kWh. The smaller version is expected to provide a range of approximately 250 kilometers, while the larger battery makes a range of up to 345 kilometers realistic. The often-cited CLTC range of 410 kilometers should be understood as an optimistic laboratory figure and will be significantly lower in the European WLTP cycle. A closer look at the version already available for South Africa provides more realistic figures. It uses a 39.4 kWh battery, which, according to WLTP, enables a range of approximately 325 kilometers. Energy consumption is stated at 15.2 kWh per 100 kilometers, a quite efficient figure for this vehicle class. The maximum DC charging power is 70 kW, which clearly positions the E2 as a practical everyday vehicle for commuting, rather than a long-distance solution. There are currently no final confirmed figures for AC charging in Europe, but the system is typically expected to operate at around 11 kW. How practical is the interior space and storage concept? When it comes to everyday usability, the Geely E2 proves surprisingly versatile. The trunk offers a capacity of 375 liters, which expands to 1,320 liters with the rear seats folded down. Additionally, the vehicle features a 70-liter frunk under the hood, ideal for charging cables or smaller items of luggage. Inside, Geely has opted for a distinctly digital concept. A 14.6-inch central touchscreen controls most vehicle functions and forms the heart of the infotainment system. This is complemented by an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Price? Currently, €25,000 is being discussed.
