SpinDrops and QuBeads | Prof. Steffen J. Glaser & Dr Dennis Huber | Session 119

During the 119th session of the Global NMR Discussion Meetings held on March 31st, 2026, via Zoom, Prof. Steffen J. Glaser & Dr Dennis Huber from TU Munich, Germany, gave a talk on the topic "SpinDrops and QuBeads – Two Complementary Software Toolkits for the Exact and Intuitive Visualization of Spin Dynamics in NMR and Quantum Information Experiments". The recording serves as a tutorial. Find out more about Prof Steffen J. Glaser's research : https://www.professoren.tum.de/en/gla... Abstract: We introduce SpinDrops and QuBeads, two related software programs for dynamically simulating and visualizing operators, particularly the density operator, in NMR spectroscopy and quantum information processing using mathematically exact and complete graphical representations. After a brief theoretical introduction into the underlying visualizations, we demonstrate the basic usage and the most important features of the software packages. In the subsequent workshop session, participants learn how to set up and simulate custom NMR sequences and quantum circuits. Furthermore, we present the built-in SpinDrops/QuBeads Didactics Frameworks and newly developed graphical editors, which can be used to design highly interactive exercises for teaching NMR and quantum information processing.
