CRISTIAN BAN is one of the leading theatre directors in Romania, known for his performances created in close collaboration with actors. A graduate of the Faculty of Theatre and Television in Cluj-Napoca, Ban refined his artistic vision through international residencies in Dortmund (Germany) and Atlanta (USA). He is the co-founder of the independent space "Reactor de creație și experiment" in Cluj and has staged over 40 performances. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with theaters throughout the country ((Sibiu, Bucharest, Sfântu Gheorghe, Arad, Piatra Neamț, Brăila, Galați, Timișoara, Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Ploiești), but also with theaters in Barcelona (Spain) and Szekszárd (Hungary). His productions have been presented in the most important festivals in the country and abroad: the National Theater Festival Bucharest, the International Theater Festival Sibiu, FestCo, the Romanian Drama Festival Timișoara, TESZT, FITPTI Iași, but also in Poland, Germany, Spain or Turkey. Cristian Ban has been rewarded with awards for direction and best show at festivals such as FITO Oradea, FestCo Bucharest or the National Comedy Festival Galați. His shows have been nominated for the UNITER Awards: ”Orașul nostru” (Best Show, 2018), ”MaMe” (Best Direction, 2021), "Parents" (Best Dramatic Text Directed in Absolute Premiere, 2025). Since 2024, Cristian Ban has been coordinating the Master's Degree in Directing program at the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș, contributing to the formation of a new generation of creators.
