But despite this promise, TENs serve only 3% of our heating demand. For thermal energy networks to emerge as a critical strategy for community-scale building decarbonization in Canada, there’s an immediate need for knowledgeable regional trainers who can champion, advise, and build support in local stakeholders. Designed for regional delivery partners who have relationships with municipalities, First Nations, utilities or building sector players, and the ability to deliver capacity-building and follow-up support, this training session from QUEST and the Building Decarbonization Alliance will: • Equip participants with a clear understanding of TENs fundamentals and their Canadian context. • Enable trainers to deliver TENs regional presentations and support for their own networks. • Teach participants how to use and adapt BDA’s TENs deliverables (whitepaper and toolkit) to local needs. • Begin the creation of a self-sustaining TENs ecosystem where knowledge spreads through regional networks. • Connect trainers across regions to share lessons learned and keep advancing Thermal Energy Network projects.
