In the Lapseki district, one of Çanakkale's major cherry production centers, the harvest of cherries that fit snugly in tea glasses has begun. Famous for their size and delicious flavor, the "Ziraat 900" variety, which barely fits into a tea glass and costs over 1 lira, is now available to consumers. The "Ziraat 900" variety, which doesn't fit in a glass, sells for between 200 and 250 lira. The Lapseki district, known for its cherry and peach production, is a major center for fruit growing. Lapseki producers have been harvesting cherries for some time now. The cherries are harvested daily and sent to wholesale markets in Istanbul. From there, Lapseki's cherries, renowned for their delicious flavor and size, are brought to consumers' tables. Lapseki cherries derive their aroma from their soil. Recently, "Ziraat 900" cherries, large enough to fit through a tea glass and worth less than 1 lira, have begun being harvested. This year, approximately 10,000 decares of cherry production are taking place in Lapseki. District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ali Kaçan, noting that Lapseki has made a name for itself with its peaches, cherries, and nectarines, said, “We are, so to speak, a fruit warehouse. The cherry harvest has begun. Our cherries are even more delicious than a teacup. Lapseki is a district experiencing transitional climate conditions. Our producers are conscientious and know exactly what to do and how to do it. This results in healthy products that leave a lasting impression, flavor, and delicious taste. The first criteria sought in cherries are size, color, and taste. As the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, we continue to support our producers from the very beginning to the end of production. With such producers, consumers are also satisfied. Our consumers can safely consume any product labeled Lapseki or Çanakkale. We are monitoring this from beginning to end. We have between 7,000 and 10,000 decares of production. Istanbul is waiting for Çanakkale products to arrive and sell. Exporters are also waiting for Çanakkale products. Right now, these cherries, which don't fit in a glass, are selling for between 200 and 250 lira.” Cahide Çoban, a retired primary school teacher who has been a cherry producer for 25 years, stated that she started cherry farming out of a love of nature, saying, “Our cherry harvest has begun. I'm very pleased with the yield. We have no shortage of buyers. Our products are consistently popular. We grow high-quality, long-lasting produce. Our cherries are delicious and don't fit in a tea glass. They sell for between 200 and 250 lira. After being picked, they are sent to supermarkets and large markets in Istanbul. Good quality means good money. These cherries, which don't fit in a glass, are top-quality. The average price is between 200 and 250 lira. These cherries are in high demand. I'm a worker myself. I'd like to thank my cherry pickers and the teams at the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.” The 'Ziraat 900' variety, which doesn't fit in a glass, sells for between 200 and 250 lira in the market. #agrotv #lapseki #cherry 🔔 AGRO TV TURKEY Facebook: https://bit.ly/3Wz5Jxm 🔔 AGRO TV TURKEY Instagram: https://bit.ly/3Wz66Ig 🔔 AGRO TV TURKEY Twitter: https://bit.ly/3jkZkrd 🔔 Website: https://www.agrotv.com.tr/ The World's Agricultural Screen 🌍 Agro TV
