48 Hours In Mid Wales | Off-Grid Yurt Stay, Elan Valley & Hidden Walks

Join me for 48 hours in Mid Wales as I escape to a beautiful off-grid campsite and discover a part of Wales I’ve never explored before. For this adventure, we stay in a cosy yurt on a secluded campsite complete with hot showers, toilets and an incredible outdoor cooking area nestled amongst the trees. With space for many yet just one yurt, one shepherd’s hut and the occasional campervan reside here, this peaceful spot feels like a true hidden gem. As it was my first time visiting the area, I took recommendations from the campsite owner and set out to explore some of Mid Wales’ most beautiful landscapes. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly a visit to the breathtaking Elan Valley. With beautiful weather, incredible views and some stunning drone footage, it’s easy to see why this area is often described as one of Wales’ best-kept secrets. On the morning of checkout, we enjoyed a stunning 4-mile walk into Builth Wells right from the campsite, we grabbed lunch here before heading back the same way, following the beautiful riverside along the Elan Valley trail.
