Last Sunday, June 14th, I raced the 2nd Sierra Elvira Mountain Bike Half Marathon, a 34km race with 1,100m of elevation gain in Atarfe, my home race. It's a very special course for me, as it passes through the areas where I regularly train and where I've been perfecting my technique since I started cycling. Although it was a half marathon, the course had a lot of singletrack—approximately 70%—so it felt more like a long cross-country race than a conventional marathon. In this video, I'll take you inside the race, showing live the watts I'm putting out at every moment, how I manage the trails, the climbs, the changes of pace, and the key moments of the race. From the start, I positioned myself at the front of the race, trying to take advantage of my familiarity with the course. Halfway through the race, I had a fall on a descent due to overconfidence, but luckily it was just a minor injury, so I was able to keep pushing and enjoying myself until the finish line.
