3 million Maggini viola vs Chaudiere viola

During the last month I was was given to play an amazing 17" Viola by Giovanni Paolo Maggini from 1610!! Its a stunning instrument, one the very few which were'nt reduced in size. Before giving back the viola, i thought to do a little comparison with my 17" Frederic Chaudiere viola which I have being play for many, many years. The impression I personally get is very similar to the one most people mentioned to me after listening both violas in a concert hall or in a large space. All I will say is that I am so grateful that they are some incredible maker like Frederic Chaudiere which can create amazing instruments that help us to make music at the highest level.
