205 Sunroof frame removal

The process of removing a sliding sunroof mechanism fitted to a Peugeot 205, the same mechanism was also fitted to the 309. This job was done to inspect some rust bubbles on the roof skin of this 205, there seems to have been a bit of a bodge where someone in the past just cut out the rust on the roof and then put the sunroof frame back over it and sealed it with household silicone. Household silicone being a terrible product to use for this purpose as it eventually looses its grip and makes the rust worse. Polyurethane windscreen sealant may have gave it a better chance. Conveneiently i managed to get hold of a full 205 roof with sunroof frame through a member of the 205 owners club facebook page. Delivery was an interesting route (In January 2020) with the roof going to a scrap collector a friend knows, then getting picked up by a cousin who had bought a lorry back from England to Northern Ireland.
