Hot vs. Cold Lobster Rolls | We're Making BOTH | Christmas in July Day 1
In this video we are making Lobster rolls, two ways — hot buttered AND cold mayo. New England's been fighting about this for decades, so I'm making BOTH and letting YOU decide. Which one wins? Note: I used 8 Lobsters (full family Cooking ) Lobster Rolls – Hot vs. Cold Prep Time: 30 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 50 minutes Serves: 4 Ingredients 4 1¼ lb live lobsters, steamed and meat removed about 1½–2 lbs lobster meat 4 New England-style split-top hot dog rolls Butter, for toasting rolls Cold Lobster Roll 1 lb lobster meat, chopped into bite-sized pieces 2–3 tbsp mayonnaise 1 celery stalk, finely diced 1 tsp fresh lemon juice Salt & black pepper, to taste Chives optional, for garnish Hot Lobster Roll 1 lb lobster meat, chopped into bite-sized pieces 4 tbsp butter 1 tsp fresh lemon juice Chives or parsley, chopped optional Instructions 1. Steam the lobsters until bright red and fully cooked. Let cool slightly, then remove all the meat from the claws, tails, and knuckles. Cut into bite-sized pieces. 2. Butter both sides of the split-top rolls and toast in a skillet until golden brown. Cold 1. In a bowl, combine the lobster meat, mayonnaise, diced celery, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. 2. Mix gently until just coated. 3. Fill the toasted rolls with the chilled lobster mixture. 4. Garnish with chives if desired. Hot 1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. 2. Add the lobster meat and gently warm it for 2–3 minutes. Do not overcook. 3. Stir in the lemon juice. 4. Fill the toasted rolls with the warm buttered lobster. 5. Garnish with chives or parsley if desired. Serving Tips Serve lobster rolls with classic sides like kettle-cooked potato chips, coleslaw, or a light cucumber salad for a refreshing contrast. For drinks, pair with a crisp white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc, a cold lager, or iced tea.
