Echoes from the Tavern is an initiative focused on showcasing curated traditional artists, compositions and performances from the Deccan, in languages as diverse as Urdu, Persian, Hindi and Telugu. For enquiries, please contact Adhiraj Parthasarathy. This video consists of a Persian na’at attributed to Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti from Ajmer performed as a qawwali. This na’at, sung in praise of the Prophet Mohammed was performed by Ateeq Hussain Bandanawazi and Party on the 9th of July, 2023 at Film Nagar, Hyderabad. The performance switches between Persian and Urdu and comprises also of interspersed girahs attributed to other writers.
