Livio Tognon from Simonit&Sirch works with Villiera Wines in Stellenbosch on pruning methods
Villiera Wines is a family run winery in the Stellenbosch wine region which has shown huge commitment to preserving the environment . Villiera Wines started working with Livio Tognon of Simonit&Sirch, Italian vineyard specialists in 2014. Livio visits Villiera annually from Italy to train the vineyard pruning team. The idea is to increase the productive life of the vineyards to over 50 years by improving uniformity, quality and the ability of the vines to withstand stress. The pruning team receive a recognition certificate for the training they receive and their salaries are also increased while pruning. This has created a sense of pride previously not seen in the pruning team.
