Documentary 'The Yangtze River' | Episode 1: Up to the origin

#Documentary series #TheYangtzeRiver offers a glimpse into the social changes and environmental transformation along the Yangtze River. Using 4K technologies, the series examines the Chinese mother river from the perspective of #environmentalprotection, celebrating the commitments and efforts Chinese people have made pitted against the backdrop of global concern over the issue. The Yangtze is the third longest river in the world and also the mother river of Chinese people. It nourishes around 40% of China's population while its basin is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world - home to rare species such as giant pandas, porpoises and snow leopards. However, excessive use of natural resources has threatened the #environment of its reaches. This documentary series features a roster of interviewees, depicting the emotional bond of people living in different regions of the mighty river. The crew of the documentary has also approached nearly a hundred experts and scholars in the fields of hydrology, water conservancy, geography, climate, flora and fauna, economy and humanities, including a dozen members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
