Here we start the story of a man named Mohandas A.k.a Aranmula Mohandas who became so famous in Kerala that BBC interviewed him while working at Guruvayoor Devaswom and in Punnathoor Kotta. He started his journey with elephants at the age of 5. He followed and observed them out of his curiosity and slowly it has become his passion. He ran away from Ithithanam at the age of 6 and joined circus to satisfy his crave for elephants. He gained a lot of experience from there. Finally he was caught red handed and was brought back home by his father. Still he continued his journey with elephants. Finally he stopped going to school and wanted to become a full time mahout, at that point he threw away all his books and followed the elephant. It was a shock for the poor father .He went to him and asked about the same. Unfortunately Mohandas's mind was adamant that he want to became a mahout and his dad has to agree to him. Mohandas is considered as a master in catching rogue elephants and bringing them back to control. He has done it multiple times in major poorams and festivals where Kerala's Most Famous elephants were parading. During his tenure at Guruvayoor temple he has took part in festivals with famous elephants.Thechikottukavu Ramachandran,Mangalamkunnu Karnan,Pampady Rajan,Chirakkal Kalidasan , Chulliparampil Vishnushankar Guruvayur Valiyakesavan ,Guruvayur Padmanabhan, etc . His has trained more than 25+ elephants in his entire life which was from various places in Kerala and belongs to both Devaswom as well as private owners.
