Zelda Begged Link Not to Die... But We Never Heard it

Let’s go through the memories in the original Japanese version of Breath of the Wild and explore some new and unique perspectives on Link and Zelda’s relationship! This video examines both the original Japanese and the officially localised English versions of Breath of the Wild, and looks at how each one brings something distinct and fascinating to the story. The aim here isn’t to disregard the official English localisation — not at all. Rather, this is about offering alternative translations alongside my own interpretations, to show how understanding both versions can deepen our appreciation of Zelda’s character and her emotional journey. All Japanese translations featured in the video were done by me. Japanese is a fundamentally different language to English, so of course others may choose to interpret things differently — and that’s completely valid. The translations I provide aren’t the only “correct” ones, but they aim to highlight the nuance and emotion in the original text.
