The HR-V is very spacious for this sub-compact class and it really shows against the CX-30, it is almost 7” longer than the Mazda. Front row legroom is about the same, but the HR-V has more second row legroom, cargo space behind the second row and overall cargo capacity. Both handle differently, the Mazda CX-30 is more dynamic and has more passing power especially on the highway, but both offer a comfortable drive and are great city run arounds. The Honda HR-V is priced higher with an AWD starting price of $31,030 CAD/$25,150 USD, the mazda CX-30 with the 2.5L non-turbo engine $29,350 CAD/$22,500 USD. Even the top trim CX-30 Turbo at $37,950 CAD/$34,700 USD isn’t much more than the HR-V top trim in Canada $37,130 CAD/$28,950 USD. They both have similar features but the Honda HR-V has a touchscreen and the mazda CX-30 a display with Mazda Connect controlled by the centre console dial. A few features the CX-30 has that the HR-V doesn’t include, a power tailgate, driver seat memory and a power driver’s seat. In the US, a power driver seat is available on the HR-V top trim. Three features the HR-V and CX-30 are missing are ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. Although these features are not common in the sub-compact class, the Kia Seltos has all three features available and the Volkswagen Taos has all but heated rear seats.
