Bike Touring the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail: Wet, Wild & Worth It!

We set out to bike tour all 83 miles of Vermont’s Lamoille Valley Rail Trail over two days—just us, our e-bikes, and whatever the Green Mountains decided to throw at us. Spoiler: it included a surprise downpour that turned the trail into a water feature. Our ride on New England’s longest rail trail, went from Swanton to Danville—we pedaled through farm country, forested hills, classic New England towns, and across covered bridges—soaking in views and, eventually, rain. If you're dreaming of doing this ride (or just want to see how it unfolds), this video shows you what two days and 83 miles on Vermont’s longest rail trail really look like—rain or shine. This ride took place on July 9, 2025.
