She passionately maintains the long-standing folk music tradition that she inherited from her predecessors. Music is in her blood: Her father, Bruno Hersche, plays with the renowned "Hersche Buebe" band, her brothers are active in the "Jodlerklub Herisau-Säge" (Herisau-Säge Yodeling Club) – and Maria herself also plays the violin. However, during the broadcast, she leaves the music-making entirely to her guests. Just a few meters away lives "Baazlis Franz," who also stops by with his fellow musicians. He is considered a musical legend in Appenzell and the surrounding area and was recently awarded the Appenzell Culture Prize. Of course, Maria's father and his band, "Hersche Buebe," are also present. Bruno Hersche composed a piece especially for his daughter: "Für d’Maria im Rössli" (For Maria at the Little Horse Inn). Her brothers and a cousin also sing in the "Jodlerklub Herisau-Säge." Since there isn't enough room in the small venue, their voices ring out outside the historic building. For a change of pace, we welcome visitors from Central Switzerland: The "Moränen Örgeler" from the canton of Zug will bring a breath of fresh air to the "Rössli" with their energetic style. Known from festival tents and coffee tents, they'll create a lively atmosphere here too with their "coffee café rave." There's no need to worry about the future of Appenzell music. The younger generation is growing up with the tradition as a matter of course. It's not something they learn or practice, but simply live: They make music together at home, just as it always has been. Flurin Manser is a prime example. Instruments have always been part of everyday life in his family home. So it's no surprise that he and his brother also play music. The 17-year-old dulcimer player will present an original composition on the program, which he wrote to mark the end of his school years.
