Students, sheltered under the columns, hastily talk about something, hurrying to hide from the rain. At the intersection with Lomonosov Street, leading deep into the city, we continue moving along the canal. Here, every street, every bend of the canal seems to breathe secrets and the past. The light of the lanterns, reflecting on the water, makes the pavement in front of us especially picturesque. Finally, we turn left, and the Kazan Cathedral opens up before us. Its dark columns rise majestically in the light of the night lanterns. Kazan Square looks as if foggy and ghostly, only rare passers-by run past, trying to hide under an umbrella. On Nevsky Prospect, we are met by a brighter picture: shop-window lights, the noise of cars, sparkling reflections of headlights on the wet road. The city continues to live its own life, despite the autumn rain, creating a unique feeling of celebration in the gloomy weather. The path leads us to Malaya Konyushennaya Street to the monument to Gogol. In the darkness, the bronze writer seems to come to life, his figure feels thoughtful, as if he himself is thinking about something important, observing the autumn streets of St. Petersburg. The walk ends at the Peterkirche.
