Pourquoi je manque de mobilité de dos même quand la douleur diminue kinesport versailles

Hello, I'm François, a physiotherapist at Kinesport Versailles. There's a situation that's often reported to physiotherapists by their patients: less back or neck pain, but still feeling stiff and limited, as if their movement hasn't fully returned. We then assume that something isn't working properly. What's important to understand is that pain and mobility don't always follow the same rhythm. Pain can decrease relatively quickly, while regaining movement often takes longer. When pain persists, the body adapts. We move differently, avoid certain movements, and reduce our range of motion. These strategies are normal and helpful initially. They allow us to get through a difficult period. But over time, they become movement habits. Even when the pain subsides, these habits can persist. The muscles, joints, and tissues around the spine have adapted to reduced use. They become temporarily less flexible in certain directions. This isn't an injury, but a reversible adaptation. The nervous system also plays an important role. Some movements remain associated with an anticipation of discomfort. Without even realizing it, we hold back the movement, controlling it more. Neuromotor control and proprioception are not yet fully reorganized to allow for fluid and confident movement. This is why the limitation is often selective. We can move in some directions without any problem, but remain restricted in others. This shows that mobility does not automatically return with the disappearance of pain. It is important to understand that forcing is not the solution. Trying to regain mobility by immediately going into maximum ranges of motion can trigger a protective reaction. Conversely, gradual, regular, and targeted exposure allows the body to readjust. Mobility is not just about going further. It is also about regaining quality of movement: coordination, fluidity, and a natural flow of movements. Every successful movement experience, even a small one, helps to restore confidence in the system. Over time, this gradual return to activity allows you to regain more comfortable ranges of motion and better tolerate the demands of daily life. Movement becomes a tool again, not a source of anxiety. Thank you for taking the time to watch this video. At Kinesport Versailles, we are here to help you move better and take care of your health.
